This character means medicine or healing. The main deity of the temple ‘Yakushi-ruriko-nyorai’ is also known as the Healing Buddha. He carries a medicine bottle in his left hand and his right hand makes the protective abhayaprada mudra which symbolizes fearlessness. He protects our physical and spiritual health.
